Artist: Achille Cattaneo (1872-1932)
Born in Limbiate (Milan) in 1872, between 1888 and 1896 Achille Cattaneo attended drawing and architecture courses at the Brera Academy, where he was a pupil of Emilio Gola. He dedicated himself to veduta, in the wake of nineteenth-century urban painting and, in particular, reproduced interiors of churches in Milan and Venice and views of the Navigli. He exhibited for the first time at the Fine Arts Society of Milan in 1900. In the 1920s he gained notoriety: in 1925 he held a personal exhibition at the Bottega di Poesia and approached the Novecento Italiano, participating in an exhibition in Milan in 1926. In those years he was present at various editions of the International Art Exhibition in Venice (1924, 1926, 1928) and at the national exhibitions in Milan in 1925 and 1927.
