Oil on canvas. Signed and dated in the bottom left of the page. Born at Trivolzio (Pavia, italy) in 1841, John Beri received his training at the Civic Painting School of Pavia with G. Trécourt. Bound, by the forms and subjects, with the lombard Realism, was also a painter-photographer. Appreciated in the environment of the bourgeoisie pavese, was much in demand for both oil portraits, both those made with a mixed technique. The work in question fits in this type of production. This is a full-length portrait of a young boy of good family. The child, from the pose and the expression from the adult, has a look serious and thoughtful and is dressed in a sober but elegant. The interiors, refined but not opulent, indicate the likely origin upper-class of the child. In the frame.
