Description : Deposizione dalla Croce
Oil on canvas. School North-European. The dramatic scene of sacred art is characterized by great dynamism and colors, rather bright, that put him close to the models of Pieter Paul Rubens, the flemish painter considered to be the"archetype of the baroque." Developed vertically, the composition seems a bunch of human figures around the figure of the dead Christ, the cluster formed by the men who haul the limp body from the top, climb on ladders, and the holy women with Mary, who await him at the foot of the cross; the bright colors of the clothes and bodies of these characters, surrounding and contrasting with the white of the shroud and the body of Christ; their plastic poses, and strongly handled, underline the inertia of the body support, that also extends, albeit passively, his arm upwards, as if to indicate its final direction. The painting, already ritelato and restored, and presented it to the frame in style.
