Pastel on paper. Youthful portrait of Napoleon Bonaparte, copy of a painting by Hippolyte Delaroche (1797-1856), French painter mostly known for his portraits of famous characters, including many of Napoleon. The pose of Napoleon is the one he is traditionally represented in, with his right hand in his coat, the left one, bent on the back, holds his glasses; in the original version of the painting, the commander is portrayed in his study, while, in the drawing proposed here, his figure stands out against a neutral monochromatic background. The drawing is presented in a coeval frame.
