Description : La conversione di Saulo

Oil on canvas. Italian School. The scene depicts the episode of the Acts Of The Apostles where young Saul was blinded by a supernatural light that called him to convert to Christ and to become Paul the Apostle, while he was travelling to Damascus leading soldiers to persecute Christians. In this painting, Christ himself is pictured instead of the light, coming down from the skies and accompanied by angels, while he shows Saul, who is on his horse, the right path to follow; on his right appears a soldier that protects himself from the vision with his shield. Already restored and recanvased, the painting is presented in a frame in style.
