Oil on canvas. Painting from an important historical collection, it probably is a preparatory sketch for a large ecclesial piece. The allegoric figure of the Faith, bottom right, is traditionally pictured as a woman with the chalice and the crucifix; while looking up, she raises the chalice towards the Saint assumed in Glory, recognizable as Saint Nicholas from the bishop robe and the crook that the angels hold, who is looking up in ecstatic contemplation towards the Virgin and the Holy Trinity. The painting, presumably attributable to a Lombard artist, is in his original canvas and presented in a coeval frame.
