Oil on plywood. Signed at the bottom right. Claudius Siegnol was born in Roanne, Loire, and was a student of Jean-Baptiste Louis Guy, an artist that was known for his genre scenes, landscapes and portraists of animals, the same themes that Seignol preferred, rural life scenes, french countryside landscapes animated by popular figures. He exposed mostly in Lion where he lived until his death. The small soldier portrait perfectly express the taste of the artist. Displayed in a 20th century frame.
