Half leather binding with title on plugs and elegant gilt friezes on the spine, marbled plates, in good condition: traces of dust on the plates, slight peeling on the headphones, on the edges of the plates and on some plugs on the spine. Gilded head cuts, traces of dust to the cuts. Paper ex-libris on endpaper of all volumes. Well preserved leaves, slightly browned and with scattered foxing, more frequent on the first and last leaves.

This edition of the classic collection of biographies of the writer and poet Tallement Des Reaux is embellished by an elegant contemporary binding and above all by the heraldic-style ex-libris dated 1920 and signed by Henry-André (1857-1932), a sought-after French engraver of Ex- Libris and one of the founders of the Société des Collectionneurs d'Ex-libris. In volume VIII the Tables Générales followed by biographical notes on the author and a selection of letters from Mademoiselle de Scudery. Vol IX presents a supplement to the Histoirettes
