Glimpse of Mandello Lario 1909

Riccardo Pellegrini, a Milanese painter, was a pupil of Domenico Morelli and was educated in the climate of romanticism. He was a landscape painter and genre painter, but he also created valuable still lifes, with bright colors and a precise and realistic drawing. His landscape production drew on the various places he visited and lived, in Italy and abroad, especially in Spain and France. In this landscape, Pellegrini offers a glimpse of the mountain that overlooks the town on the shores of Lake Como: a barren and bare mountain, albeit inhabited, with the hut on the top and a female figurine that fills the buckets at the stream of flowing water. between the rocks; the colors are those of the winter mists, divided almost transversely between the gray-blue of the upper part, with clouds laden with rain that dominate the peaks on the other side of the lake (which can be sensed, without being seen), and the green-brown of the land that occupies the lower half, with the branches of the bare trees stretched out to connect the two halves. The quiet of the mountains, the title of the work, clearly shines through and pervades the mind of the observer. The painting is presented in a contemporary frame.

The painting depicts a glimpse of the small village in the Brembana Valley, crossed by the Enna torrent at the point of confluence with the Brembo river; the peaks of the Orobie Alps rise above the town. Rest on the Flight into Egypt

The sacred theme in this scene takes on a familiar connotation, full of very earthly tenderness and intimacy: in an almost exotic context, which evokes an oasis in the desert for palm trees and a spring of water in a barren and hilly landscape. bare, Joseph and Mary sit to rest during their flight to Egypt, to escape the persecution of Herod; the mother tenderly holds baby Jesus on her knees, looks at him tenderly and swaddles him, while Joseph observes them pleased and relaxed. The whole scene is characterized by the dominance of brown-ocher colors, from which only Maria's dress differs, in her traditional blue and red colors; in the background, a clear sky in the colors of a dawn that has just dawned, with shades of pink. The canvas was applied on a new frame from the mid-1900s and placed in a frame from the same period, which has some shortcomings.

Oil on canvas. Dutch school, late 19th century. Unidentified signature and date '80 on the lower left. Metal plate on the frame with "Ashelard Holland 1880" written on it. The landscape view, a vast cultivated countryside with gentle slopes, is crossed by a watercourse, navigated by some boats; on the left bank, a small group of houses, with a small church; some wayfarers cross paths on the path. Still on the first canvas, the painting is presented in a regilded frame from the early 1900s.

Glimpse of the Country

Carlo Domenici, one of the main exponents of the Gruppo Labronico (a group of painters founded in Livorno and active since 1920, with the aim of promoting Livorno art), dedicated his painting to the Tuscan landscape, in particular to three areas: the Maremma, with its farmers and animals working in the fields, his city Livorno and the island of Elba, where he lived in his last years until his death. Here is a glimpse of a village, with the dirt road traveled by wayfarers and bordered by garden walls. The work is presented in a frame.

Pian Rosa

The title identifies the large glacier visible in the background, in the gap that opens between the plants of the plain in front of the Alpine chain. Pian Rosa (or Plateau Rosa) is a glacier located in the Swiss Valais in the Pennine Alps, just beyond the Italian-Swiss border, in the Matterhorn group. Luigi Comolli, an artist from Milan, distinguished himself for his landscape painting, mainly of northern Italy, and for his still lifes. The impressionist influence can be found in his works, drawn from his formative path in Paris in his youth. The work is presented in a frame.

Glimpse of Wooden Landscape

Luigi Comolli, an artist from Milan, distinguished himself for his landscape and still life paintings. His works show the impressionist influence, drawn from his formative experience in Paris in his youth. The work is presented in a frame.

Oil on canvas. It belongs to a group of works called Jeux de Symboles, created from 1945 to 1950 approximately, in which ORAZI's painting moves towards the production of the so-called Peinture du Mouvement, characterized by the work on the dynamic effects of the human body (and animals) in motion, emphasized by the strength of color. Color dominates this scene, strong, acid, bright color, which outlines almost geometric human and animal figures, with marked and clear contours, in which two different ethnic groups seem to be recognized in comparison. The canvas has small losses of color. It comes from the artist's family collection.

Intense close-up portrait of a man, probably North African, which belongs to the artistic period defined as orientalist, that is, in that artistic production that was fascinated by the oriental world, following the numerous trips in vogue in the 19th century to the warm and exotic lands of the countries of Western Asia. Oil on canvas. Unidentified signature lower right. Title on the back. The large scene is set under the porch of a farmhouse: two young girls chat amicably while feeding the chickens, tipping grass from wicker baskets. The painting is presented in a contemporary frame.

In a soberly furnished room, an elderly woman sits reading, or perhaps meditating, with her book resting on the table under the window, while her dog sleeps curled up on a bench to the right of the woman. The scene is rich in finely depicted details; from the window, with the curtains raised to let in the light that illuminates the scene, we can glimpse figures walking on a road that leads to a fortified palace. The German painter August Friedrich Siegert established himself mainly for his portraits and genre scenes that represent moments of daily life with great attention to detail and a touch of realism. The painting is presented in a contemporary gilded frame from the second half of the 19th century.
