Italy 18th Century

Carved and gilded wooden mantelpiece. The cymatium is pierced and carved with scrolls, leaves, flowers, and curls. The central mirror is composed of three adjacent elements, plus two additional mirrors on the sides, with engraved frames serving as uprights. Some losses and restorations. Italy, 18th century.

Tuscany Mid-19th Century

Neoclassical-style mirror in carved and gilded wood. The carved cymatium features a central face surmounted by an eagle holding drooping floral and leafy branches, which continue along the sides of the mirror. Floral and leafy carvings also adorn the vase-shaped feet. Tuscany, mid-19th century.

Neoclassical frame in ebonized fruitwood. Double carved and gilded molding, alternating with ebonized moldings. Italy, late 18th century.

Italy, Early XIX Century

Eclectic freestanding mirror in carved and gilded fir. Frame with leaf carvings and internal beading, fretworked frieze with Rocaille motifs that continue on the sides of the base. Restored. Italy, early 19th century.

Small Baroque frame, lacquered and gilded. The openwork wooden frame is richly carved with leaf motifs. Italy, 17th century.

Veneto, Early XVIII Century

Small Baroque wooden frame, richly carved, lacquered, and gilded. Cherub faces and flowers on the sides, a dove at the bottom, and a winged cherub with flowers on the top are gilded and contrast with the rest of the lacquered frame, carved with scrolls and leaves. Veneto, early 18th century.

Italy, Late XVIII - Early XIX Century

Neoclassical lacquered fireplace. Made with a mirror in the support base while in the upper part a camber encloses an oval reserve in which an allegorical painting depicting "Justice" with cupids is housed; the frame is lacquered in shades of ochre and gray and yellow, with reserves painted with classic candelabra and white festoons on a light blue background.

Large free-standing mirror made in the last quarter of the 19th century still with a marked eclectic taste. The structure of the strongly architectural frame features a double arch on the top on which rests a large hexagonal reserve with a blue painted background with carved and gilded putti inserted. On the two culminating parts of the mirrors are inserted facing carved and always gilded dragons. On the sides of the mirror are applied carved dragons with Gothic turrets. Then two coats of arms are applied, one of which is recognizable as the Visconti coat of arms. Veneered in mahogany with painted and gilded parts. Repetitions in the gilding.

Baroque Frame

Small carved and gilded frame from the Baroque period, made in the first decades of the 18th century. The frame is carved in lime wood without applied parts; it is decorated with symmetrical leafy scrolls that end in a coat of arms at the bottom and in a shell on the top, on which a winged cupid flies down, bringing a crown to the figure depicted in the portrait, probably a bride metaphorically represented as Venus, according to the typical attributes, shell and Cupid. The similarity with the more famous frame attributed to Parodi, in which the narration of the Judgement of Paris is depicted, is evident: the moulding of the frame is the same as the two putti placed in the shell, in that case placed at the base of the frame, seem very close, a detail that makes us think of a production by a student of the same workshop.
