Description : La Cantina
Oil on canvas, restored and reitelato. The representation of scenes of everyday life was characteristic of Longhi, who made, with her painting, careful observation, and facts in a timely manner. Also in this case the subject is represented, in a calm and measured, as "theater of life"; there is the description of everyday objects like the pot and the jug on the bench, very close to those represented in "The polenta", which is preserved at Ca' Rezzonico, museum of the '700. Missing, however, in our painting the alluring, amused, and ironic, that through the paintings of the Longhi; also the pictorial quality, although good, is not comparable to that of the more well-known painter, in which field, however, this canvas has been produced. The work is presented in a gilded frame of '900.
