Description : Visione di Sant'Antonio da Padova
Oil on canvas. The Saint is represented here on her knees, in adoration of the infant as translated; behind him the lily and book complement the iconography. The apparition of the infant Jesus became widespread in the 500 after the publication of the Liber Miraculorum, which introduced the story of vision. The new subject of painting had spread since 500 especially in Spain, and then spread in Italy. The skilful composition together and excellent quality, evident especially in shape and Anthony's face, recall the work of excellent painters, including, to name one in which we see the similarity, Bartolomeo Caravoglia (London, 1691-1619). The work was restored and reintelata.
