Europe, Late XIX Century

Group of six neo-Renaissance chairs of European production, beech structure and chestnut seat, front crosspiece and carved backrest.

Oil on canvas. Venetian school of the eighteenth century. The portrait proposes the figure of a young woman wearing an everyday dress, but embellished with spotted fur edges; curiously, with the raised arm she flaunts a fur muff tucked over one hand, probably a habit to underline a fashion of the time. The painting shows signs of restoration, with conservation of the original canvas, although reassembled on a new frame. It is presented in a coeval oval frame, but surmounted by a wooden frieze added at a later time.

Opera monumentale, uscita postuma, il volume raccoglie le più importanti notizie e documentazioni sulla danza russa, come un variegato atlante di geografia danzata. Il percorso riflette le inclinazioni, l'indole e il modo di intendere la danza condizionato dalle trasformazioni del gusto nelle varie epoche. Cartonato con cofanetto, esce a tiratura limitata (copie numerate da 1 a 399), illustrato con tavole a colori. L'autore, Gianni Secondo (Torino, 1925-2011): dottore in medicina e chirurgia, storico e critico di danza, bibliofilo e collezionista. Critico di balletto per numerose testate, è stato membro del comitato artistico del Festival Torinodanza.
