"Attraversare Genova" propone un excursus nell'arte e nella cultura degli anni Sessanta e Settanta del Novecento, due decenni di avvenimenti che hanno visto Genova protagonista e culla sperimentale di esperienze nell'ambito delle arti visive, dell'architettura, del cinema, del teatro, della musica, della grafica e del fumetto. Curato da Sandra Solimano, il volume - che accompagna l'esposizione allestita al Museo d'Arte Contemporanea di Villa Croce - propone una riflessione su quegli anni per riscoprire il fermento culturale cui hanno contribuito artisti genovesi, italiani e stranieri che hanno vissuto e lavorato in città; un viaggio metaforico che ci porta ad "attraversare" Genova e rivivere l'atmosfera che permeava la città in un periodo storico intenso.

Figure rigorosamente bianche, tutte in rapporto di interazione con una fonte luminosa, si sporgono da angoli e superfici inattese, cogliendo di sorpresa lo spettatore. Ciò che a un primo sguardo si coglie nei suoi lavori sono gli elementi propri delle più importanti correnti artistiche contemporanee: coprifantoccio bianchi, luce al neon, scarnificazione dell'intero apparato scenico e una progressiva sottrazione del dato naturalistico.

Charcoal on paper. Signed and dated lower right, with the name of the character (the King in Act I). Accompanied by a photo-certificate from the General Catalogue and Archive of the artist's works. It is the work of the prominent Italian painter Remo Brindisi, whose painting, based on a descriptive and realistic approach in his early works, added expressionist nuances in his later works, giving rise to his own neo-figurative language. His work is always imbued with social and political intentions. Brindisi also worked as a sculptor, illustrator, writer, set designer, and cultural curator. His collaboration on the grandiose sets and costumes for the 1974 production of Aida at the Verona Arena was particularly noteworthy; a sketch for the character of the King is presented here. The work is presented in a frame.
