Franz Rosenzweig dichiarò un giorno che il mondo ebraico tedesco aveva manifestato un vero interesse per lui soltanto quando erano usciti i primi volumetti della Bibbia ebraica nella nuova traduzione che stava realizzando insieme all'amico Martin Buber. Eppure, da alcuni anni il giovane filosofo era attivo a Francoforte come direttore di un pionieristico istituto di cultura ebraica ed era noto per avere scritto nel 1921 "La stella della redenzione", un'opera di grande respiro con la quale introduceva nella filosofia le categorie fondamentali della tradizione biblica (creazione, rivelazione e redenzione) e ridisegnava il travagliato rapporto tra ebraismo e cristianesimo. Gli scritti compresi nel presente volume furono elaborati per gran parte negli ultimi anni della sua breve esistenza e sono tutti connessi benché in modi diversi - alla traduzione della Bibbia ebraica, impresa che aspirava a confrontarsi con le grandi versioni bibliche del passato, in particolare con quella di Lutero, da cui è scaturita la lingua letteraria tedesca.

Empire chest of drawers in walnut veneered with mahogany and mahogany, front with four drawers of which the first is projecting, half truncated pyramidal columns with base and capital in worked and gilded bronze. Finely chiseled and gilded bronze escutcheons and applications. Ebonized feral feet and gilded leaf carvings. Top in gray Bardiglio marble. Iron locks with visible brass plate, that of the second drawer with double lock to close the first. Probable production of Manfredini bronzes. Milan, early 19th century.

Pair of Sheraton-style armchairs in mahogany entirely painted with floral motifs and gold profiles. Pierced shield-shaped backrest, wavy armrests, truncated pyramidal legs, padded seat. England, second half of the 19th century.

Italy, Late XIX - Early XX Century

Corner sofa from the Art Nouveau period. The sofa is made as a corner, with wavy armrests and surmounted by an asymmetrical structure with shelves supported by whiplash motifs and a small compartment with a glass door in the center. The mahogany surface is decorated with brass plates with floral motifs, cut out and finely engraved. The Liberty motif is not only in the shape of the furniture but also in the decorations and the glass windows.

Bookcase with container elements with open drawers and central body with hinged doors, solid wood and Jacaranda wood veneer. Doors covered in laminate. Restored.

Oil on canvas. Tasty depiction of popular life with caricature-like figures: three full-length commoners are depicted on the street while they converse intensely with each other, exchanging confidences or... gossip! Unsigned, the painting requires restoration due to a tear at the bottom.

Teal leather clutch bag with magnetic flap closure. It has a leather shoulder strap and removable chain. The item can therefore be carried over the shoulder or by hand, thanks to the special band applied on the front. Inside it has a zip pocket and two smaller pockets. It has very slight signs of wear on the leather, due to storage.
