Description
A drop-leaf secretaire, serpentine front. Three drawers and two small inserts on the shaped shoulders. The drop-leaf door hides a glass cabinet with four drawers and an open compartment with sliding top opening on a further compartment. Front with lateral small drawers, slabbed anew. It has been restored. Manufactured in Italy, first half of the 18th century.

Obtained from prunus cerasus , a plant of oriental origin, it is a hard wood with a light and delicate color, with a reddish vein. Due to its diffusion and availability it was used in Europe in popular furniture. In cabinet making, in the seventeenth century, it was widely used in France and England for inlay work.
