Description
L.V. case upholstered with the iconic Monogram oil cloth of the Maison, fabric created in 1896 by Georges Vuitton, Louis Vuitton's son. It can be dated to 1925, period in which the quality of the materials and the craftmanship historically reached their highest levels. Every part is original: the wooden interiors, the lousine finishes, the gilded brass details, the cloth and the locks. The latches of cases in those years were already using a revolutionary 5 spring loaded drums system, that made cases extremely safe. The antique travel cases were commissioned directly by the Maison and personalized according to the needs and interests; in this case, the presence of a crown suggests the commissioning came from a noble family. The case has reduced measures for the times and it was created to transport and preserve footwear, there are, in fact, many extractable shelves inside, studied to take advantage of all the space and protect the content of the case.
