Description : Il Porto di Livorno dopo la Guerra
Oil on the table. Signed and dated lower right. On the back of this handwritten dedication of the author and written by the buyer, the painter colleague Valsecchi, with the title and the registration of origin from the "Exhibition of Tuscan painters" at the Lucas Gallery. Cafiero Filippelli was born in Livorno and artistically trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, where he came into contact with Giovanni Fattori and the master of liberty art Galileo Chini. Filippelli specialized in artificial light interiors, revealing an intimate inclination, but he also knew how to range in painting en plen air: his marinas and landscapes, teeming with mainly female figures, reveal a marked aptitude for portraiture. The work presented offers a glimpse of the port of Livorno, dominated by the two cargo ships, whose reflections in the water below create a pleasant and suggestive chromatic effect. In frame.

Additional Information
Artist: Cafiero Filippelli (1889-1973)
Born in Livorno in 1889, Cafiero Filippelli attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, coming into contact with Giovanni Fattori and with the art nouveau master Galileo Chini. A pupil of the sculptor Lorenzo Gori and the watercolourist Lorenzo Cecchi, he treasured all these lessons, developing a painting that proceeded along the path of the post-Macchiaioli tradition, mediated by wider cultural instances. Specialized in interiors with artificial light, which highlight an intimate soul and inclination, he was nevertheless able to range also in painting en plein air, thus satisfying the stimuli that came to him from the art market. His seascapes and landscapes, teeming with mostly female figures, reveal a marked aptitude for portraiture. Cafiero Filippelli participated in various editions of the Venice Biennale and the Roman Quadrennials. He was a member of the Labronico Group. He died in his hometown in 1973.
