Description
First edition of the Shakespearean masterpiece beautifully illustrated by 41 color plates applied on strong paper and protected by talking tissues and by numerous engravings in b / w nt and ft. The illustrator is Arthur Rackham, one of the protagonists of the so-called “Golden Age” of English illustration, which goes from 1890 to the Great War. Rackham had inaugurated his unmistakable graphic style with the illustration of Irving's Rip Van Winkle in 1905 and since then he has been engaged in the illustration of numerous masterpieces of Anglo-Saxon literature with his style between Art Nouveau and ancient suggestions related to a Celtic world populated by fairies and elves.
