Italy, Early XX Century

A pair of polychrome majolica plates with a Raphaelesque decoration along the rim and a grisaille decoration with scenes of cherubs in the center of the bowl. The plates bear a handwritten date on the back, placing them in 1920, and two handwritten letters in red, "G" and "P" likely the initials of the unidentified ceramist. Central Italy, Tuscany-Marche area.

Italy, 1930s

Majolica display plate decorated in shades of blue with ochre details. The centerpiece features a family crest supported by cupids. The rim has a contoured and wavy edge with reserves decorated with landscapes alternating with incised shells. Manufacturer's mark on the reverse in underglaze blue.

Majolica plate with lobed and molded rim. In the center of the plate a group of turreted buildings rises from an island of land with plants; the background is crossed by veils that represent the sky. Along the frame I decorate with leafy branches that come out from the perimeter.

Kutani plate decorated with polychrome enamels within scrolls with various representations. The upper one with a scene of literati intent on writing and reading a scroll in beautiful writing, the others with naturalistic scenes, dragons and Kirin highlighted in gold, on a red background with stylized racemes. Brand in red under the base. Japan Meiji period circa 1910.
