Folded cards and plates in very good condition with wide margins and rare foxing. Description
The volume contains the work carried out by engineers Mario Baroni, Ugo Granzotto, Luigi Kambo and Urbano Marzoli and was published in 1924, a year after the tragedy of the Gleno dam, in one of the high valleys of the province of Bergamo, which collapsed under the pressure of six million cubic meters of water. The disastrous flood that followed sowed destruction and numerous deaths. When the collapse occurred, the Viganò company received serious accusations of negligence and incompetence. The purpose of this work is clear from the preface: "The company has asked us technicians for a broad, free and dispassionate technical examination of the accusations made against it, in comparison with the procedures it adopted in designing and carrying out the works, and the search for the general and particular causes that originated the disaster, in comparison with the results of the expert report, whose conclusions the company refuses to recognize as presumable, much less as proven".
