Description

Pair of Biedermeier style benches made in the 20th century. In cherry, they have five uprights, with outwardly curved armrests, a boat-shaped backrest with a small central armrest; on the backrest there are turned pinnacles and as ornaments, carved and lacquered faux bronze applications, rosettes, one of which is missing, and an athlete's head taken from the antique.

In Italy it was very successful in Lucca. It was also very popular in the United States for the manufacture, from the late 1600s, of commonly used furniture.
