Vintage burgundy leather bag by Gianni Versace. Very particular article for the leather workmanship and the shape with a semicircle structure. The conditions are good, although it shows signs of wear over time which do not preclude its use.

Mid-20th century Clutch bag, entirely handmade with white and beige beads and flower designs. The interior is in light satin, with small pockets (spots inside). The signs of wear and tear of time do not preclude its beauty and use (some beads are missing and you have to put back some fasteners to be able to use it by hand).

Bag that can be worn on the shoulder or as a clutch in large sizes. It is in green reptile, with two magnetic buttons closure. Internally, also in green leather, it is divided by three compartments and two pockets with zippers. The condition is very good: it has some small signs of wear over time, which does not preclude its use or its value.

Delightful purse-shaped purse, created with metallic threads and gold and silver-colored beads, The interior is in ivory satin, and the closure is a buttonhole with a small pearl. The lower part is enriched with a fringe decoration. The condition is very good, apart from a few missing beads.

Bag by Cesare Piccini, probably designed in the 1960s. Brown velvet with yellow and black bands. Velvet brown handle. The steel ring can be pulled to open the latch. The mirror inside the bag is embedded in the pocket. Excellent condition, the leather inside the bag is slightly marked. Designed in Italy.

"Angeli, non Angli", esclama il futuro papa Gregorio Magno quando vede dei bellissimi schiavi inglesi in vendita nel Foro di Roma. Da questa frase prende l'avvio la missione di riconversione della Britannia abbandonata dalle legioni e occupata dagli Angli e dai Sassoni. È l'inizio ideale della "Storia degli Inglesi" composta da Beda nel VIII secolo. Leggermente balbuziente, chiuso per tutta la sua vita nei monasteri di Wearmouth e Jarrow, Beda possiede però "l'ardente spiro" del quale Dante lo vede fiammeggiare nel Ciclo dei Sapienti. Ha commentato quasi tutta la Bibbia, si è occupato del computo del tempo ha composto un "De natura rerum", trattati di ortografia e metrica, vite di santi e persino poesia. La sua "Historia ecclesiastica gentis Anglorum", della quale la Fondazione Valla pubblica in due volumi la prima edizione critica in quaranta anni, è fra le più belle opere storiografiche del Medioevo. Tutto è organizzato con mano sapiente e narrato col piglio dello scrittore di razza. Ma tutto, anche, ha l'aura delle origini e il passo della meditazione sugli accadimenti: se Beda vuole ancorare a Roma l'alba delle vicende inglesi è perché quella che Gregorio, per mezzo del suo missionario Agostino, porta nel Kent è una nuova cultura.
