Description
First Italian edition published by De Donato in March 1967. Translated by Maria Olsoufieva. The Master and Margarita is one of Mikhail Bulgakov's most famous novels, written between 1928 and 1940 during Stalin's regime. The novel was completed by Bulgakov's third wife, Yelena Sergeevna Shilovskaya, and published posthumously only between 1966 and 1967 by a Moscow magazine in a censored version. The first complete Russian version was published in 1969 in Frankfurt, Germany, by Posev Publishing House. It is considered one of the most important novels in Russian and world literature for its originality, satirical content, and ability to blend narrative genres and registers.
