Un po’ di storia: i candelabri, come anche i candelieri antichi, vennero brevettati per sfuggire dal buio e dare maggiore sicurezza all’uomo. Oltre alla loro funzionalità di agevolare la vista con la loro incredibile luce, venivano valorizzati utilizzandoli come decori.
Che differenza c’è tra candeliere e candelabro?
Molte volte si utilizzano i termini inappropriatamente e questo può essere uno dei casi. Facciamo un po’ di chiarezza in modo tale che saprai meglio cosa cercare nel nostro catalogo. Il cambiamento che venne di seguito riguarda la forma, impreziosita con varie decorazioni, messe in luce dall’utilizzo dei colori e di lamine d’oro. Nel periodo romanico ci fu l’aggiunta di una nuova foggia con la forma di una colonna e le basi rotonde provviste di piedini, il tutto abbellito da decorazioni. Invece, il periodo barocco risentì dell’artigianato tedesco, francese e inglese, le cui produzioni andavano devolute alla chiesa. Con il passare del tempo le forme dei candelabri antichi si modificarono sempre più, seguendo sempre lo stile e la moda del tempo, anche se vennero subito rimpiazzati dall’arrivo dell’energia elettrica, che grazie al suo sapore di novità, fece allontanare la gente dall’utilizzo di candelieri e candelabri. Dal 1900 si assistette all’apparsa di tutti quegli appassionati di ferri antichi, che permisero il ritorno in campo dei candelieri.
