Description
Splendid edition of Apollinaire's poem published in 1911: Orpheus and the animals of his retinue are represented in 30 original engravings (8 double-page engravings) to which are added two nt engravings and a double page on the title page, for a total of 33 plates. The original burins of Tavy Notton were shot on the bras presses of Manuel Robbe in Paris. This edition is limited to 200 numbered copies: 136 with only the volume of illustrated text, 64 in which the text is accompanied by collections of loose plates and original drawings. Our specimen is number 7 and is part of the selection of 7 specimens (Numérotés de 1 à 7) with the following characteristics: 7 exemplaires sur Japon nacré comprenant: a double cuivre, an original double design, a suite en bistre sur vélin d'Arches, a suite en noir sur vélin d'Arches and an éprouve sur soie de chacune des neuf double pages. Unfortunately, the copy in our possession is not complete: only the loose-leaf volume on Japon nacré paper and the two suites of plates (9 double-page and 24 full-page) in bistro and black on vélin d'Arches are present in the box; the other elements indicated in the Justificatione du tirage are missing.
