Description
Neapolitan school, the painting looks at the painting by Luca Giordano, and in particular the series of portraits of philosophers, widely reproduced during his stay in Naples. Starting in these beautiful locations from Caravaggio's work, however, Jusepe Ribera, who already in the second decade of the seventeenth century uses brown tones to the seabed and the portrait, and a sharp and bright white for paper rolls, playing on the sharp contrast. The representation more mannered suggests a framework in our scope and Autography later, referred to as early as the second half of the ' 600, coeval with Golden frame in which the canvas is presented. Traces of restoration around the head, which appears so less defined. Needs to be cleaned.
