Piacenza, Late XVIII Century

Pair of chests of drawers with walnut veneer, walnut root and bois de rose, maple and boxwood trim; inlaid rosettes with shading on tops, sides and fronts with three drawers. Retractable chain that allows the continuity of the inlay. Interior in fir and original locks. One seatback has been replaced.

Italy Last quarter of the 18th century

Lombard neoclassical chest of drawers veneered in briar walnut with borders in bois de rose and violets, Italy, last quarter of the 18th century. On the front, the three drawers as well as the sides are framed by a relief frame, highlighted by the uprights where the pilasters have a third order of projection that outlines the architectural character of the piece of furniture. On the sides as on the frote, thanks to the flush drawers with retractable chain, we find reserves in walnut briar inlaid in boxwood and maple, with floral and phytomorphic motifs arranged circularly and vase elements. On the frames of the reserves are Greek inlaid with successive leaves and on the uprights motifs with sloping discs. Feet in a jar. Top in Bardiglio gray marble replaced, restorations. The piece of furniture presents in the taste of the inlay and in the arrangement of the same, different points of contact with the work of Mortarino both in the furniture attributed to him and in the certain ones; to this example the inlaid motifs on the uprights are reflected in the side borders of the two Mantuan dressers. 18th Century / 1701 - 1800

Large chest of drawers with barocchetto shelf from Emilia, with the typical curved and rounded on silhouette on the front and on the sides, which can be opened. Supported by curved feet, the under-the-top band is shaped, it has three drawers and two upper ones side by side, under the top. The shelf has a grooved base with a drawer and a smaller drawer on the front: the upper part with glass panels on the front and on the sides used to be a display case for a statue, which originally could only be opened with a door on the back, but it was modified in the 19th century by adding a wooden panel on the back, while a small door and a shelf have been added on the front. Maple burl veneer with walnut edges, the interiors are in poplar, the handles are in bronze with pendants and nozzles with a coat of arms depicting a pair of rampant lions topped by a two-headed eagle with the imperial crown.

Paris Third Quarter of the 19th Century

Napoleon III two-door sideboard, made by the cabinetmaker Georges-Alphonse-Bonifacio Monbro. Structure in ebony veneered oak, embellished with semi-precious stones and gilded bronzes. White marble top arranged within the edge, front with two doors decorated with reserves with vases of flowers and fruit made of stones in the centre, uprights at forty-five degrees, bracket feet. The bronzes, chiseled and gilded, portray leafy friezes, phytomorphic elements, godrons, rosettes, masks and volutes. The pilasters of the uprights are also made of gilded bronze, decorated with bunches and grape leaves and culminating with a caryatid and a telamon. Interior doors veneered in mahogany. Stamped in several parts on the hull and on the bronzes. Restorations and replacements.

18th Century / 1701 - 1800

Pair of big corner cabinets with rudentate pillars that end with pyramidal truncated feet and with a two-panels door. In the middle of the panels there are medaillons painted with landscapes of buildings and hills in the backbround; the rose windows are hels by pink ribbons and sourmounted by a basket of flowers in the middle. Coeval iron keyholes. Original lacquering.

Italy, Second Quarter XIX Century

Ancient safe from the restoration period with internal walnut structure and iron cladding decorated with studs, Italy second quarter of the 19th century. Front with door decorated with lozenge elements and applied faces in classic bronze style; Steel door lock mechanism embellished with rosettes, leafy frets and engraved phytomorphic elements. Interior equipped with document compartments, six drawers, pair of shaped shelves and compartment located in the lower section, the latter hidden under a folding door with lock. Keys present. Small shortcomings.

17th Century / 1601 - 1700, 16th Century / 1501 - 1600

Walnut burl veneered cabinet, the uprights on the front, also in walnut wood, are richly carved: starting from the bottom there is a shelf in the shape of a leafy volute, surmounted by a fish, a dolphin according to the imagination of the time, and again from a grotesque mask. In the upper part there is instead a caryatid, in the left upright, while in the right one a telamon, both with facial features that recall the tradition of grotesque masks. The band below the top sees the alternation of reserves veneered in briar with small carved pieces: in the lateral ones there are two profiles of warriors with helmets on their heads, then there are two pieces with weapons, a shield and a quiver of arrows; in the center, finally, an oval coat of arms, without however any identifying elements. The front is occupied by a large opening flap door veneered in briar inside, hiding a chest of drawers consisting of twelve small drawers and two side doors; they are all decorated with carved briar frames. The wrought iron lock is hidden on the outside, but visible on the inside of the door; it has the characteristic lily shape, echoed in the door hinges.
