Additional Information

Artist: Umberto Zini (1878-1964)

Umberto Zini, born in Padua in 1878, was a student of Ettore Tito, Guglielmo Ciardi, and Luigi Nono at the Venice Academy. He attended the free school of nude painting directed by Nono. His career as a painter was extensive. A staunch nineteenth-century artist, he devoted himself passionately, with equal ease and effectiveness, to both figure painting (portraits) and landscapes, whose subjects were Venice and the Venetian lagoon. He began his career at Cà Pesaro, where he continued with figurative painting and participated in numerous regional exhibitions. Zini died in Venice in 1964.
