Antique Baroque Columns Baroque Linden Coat of Arms XVIII Century
Italy, Early XVIII Century
Pair of baroque columns, on the front they are decorated with a large carved coat of arms, partially gilded and lacquered. The coat of arms is inserted between baroque scrolls composed of curls and festoons and refers to the Soldani-Benzi family, originally from Montevarchi but also based in Florence in Santa Croce. The columns, from the Baroque period, correspond to the life period of the famous Massimiliano Soldani Benzi (1656-1740), Florentine painter, sculptor and medallist. Lacquered and gilded with a mission, they bear the family coat of arms as described in the Florentine state archives, Quartered: in the 1st of silver, with two raised bands of azure; in the 2nd party, a/ of azure, with a darting dolphin in a pale of gold, b/ banded ruffled of azure and gold; in the 3rd of azure, with three bands of gold each charged with three roses of red; in the 4th of silver, with a reversed chevron of red.
